Abstract:
contents of the model
EROSION_2D is a physically based computer model for simulating sediment transport on slopes. The model is based on the moment fluxes exerted by the falling droplets and by the slope. A critical moment flux, determined by the discharge at initial erosion, is introduced in order to estimate the erodibility of the soil. For quantitative results the theoretical model is calibrated with experimental data.
principles of the model
The input parameters of the EROSION_2D model are the altitude coordinates of the initial slope profile, the surface and soil properties, and the vegetationcover of the slope. The characteristic variables can vary across space (changes in the long profile of the slope) and time (e.g. seasonalvariations). Sediment transport is always calculated on the basis of sinufis/gle precipitation or erosion events. These are characterized by the time of their occurence (day and month), their duration and the temporal variation of precipitation intensity. After simulation, the initial slope profile and the erosion and deposition rates are presented in the form of graphics and tables.
